Since I shared my experience, I’ve been asked, now I’ll answer.
There was a movement where women supported other women by sharing a hashtag on social media platforms the words “me too” acknowledging they had been victims of sexual abuse.
Why not participate?
Here it is.
Ladies, the world desires you to identify with your trauma as a part of what they claim will bring healing. Join together. Give support. Share the victimization of your experience, together. Without question. No validation or verification of truth necessary. You said it. It happened. Done. Be victims, together.
I chose not to participate. Not because I failed to acknowledge that at one time I had suffered at the ugly hands of a filthy man who served his lustful desires at my expense. Rather it was because I no longer identified as his victim. Identifying as his victim would hold me captive to the pain. The pain I had already released into the hands of a loving, merciful, just God to handle. I was free and desired to be captive no more.
I survived, forgave, healed, and had a testimony to share that was and is so much more than victimhood. I am not owed anything from that man. I desire no apology. My healing depends none on his actions. I do not seek revenge. I do not seek justice. I don’t need it. I’ve truly healed. Freedom. You can have that too.
The world wants you to seek your own revenge, justice, sense of reparations, and identity with the trauma. To feel owed, something you may never get but to stay in a perpetual state of “they owe me”. That state of mind only sows seeds of bitterness into the soil of your heart. It makes for stony ground. A stony heart impedes growth, healing, health, and compassion. A stony heart keeps you captive to the pain. Pain that is not your burden to bear.
The social media platform hashtags one after another serves only to promote riding waves of fallacy that will drown you while starving for truth.
They serve NO other purpose.
They claim to raise awareness. Interesting as they come out so fast they contradict each other and nobody even notices as they join the hashtag share after share. The track ahead is broken and unable to sustain the weight of the cart you’re riding in. Be. Careful. It’s a long way down.
The adversary of your soul desires you to hold your hurts, feel justified in your own seek of vengeance, and feel perpetually owed something as he knows a hardened stony heart keeps you from seeing spiritual truth. At the end of the day, it’s nothing more than a battle for your soul. He knows bitterness from an unforgiven heart that holds unresolved hurts impedes you spiritually.
👉🏻 Bitter hearts do not seek God.
👉🏻 Bitter hearts do not trust God.
👉🏻 Bitter hearts are angry at God.
👉🏻 Bitter hearts blame God.
👉🏻 Bitter hearts serve self.
👉🏻 Bitter hearts withhold praise.
👉🏻 Bitter hearts make demands not prayer.
👉🏻 Bitter hearts cannot love God which is the first and greatest commandment.
Bitterness. That is what the devil wants you to walk in. It gives him power over you. Power you never intended him to have. Tragic.
Forgiveness gives God the ability to miraculously walk you through some of the most painful, tragic, traumatic, experiences of your life into a place of healing where testimony, healing others, and compassion flows. He takes every single thing the enemy meant for evil and turns it to good.
Healing brings wholeness, peace, calm, and joy the world cannot take from you.
Forgiveness yields an abundance of life hard to comprehend despite trial and tribulation.
🔥 It’s powerful. 🔥It’s beautiful. 🔥It’s freedom.
Jesus desires you to have freedom. His command to give forgiveness is for your good and his glory. Even when the devil tries to convince you otherwise.
I do not identify with the world. As I am called to live IN the world not OF the world. 💕
Be careful, sisters, these are perilous times not for the faint of heart. You’ll see now and for the rest of your days, the devil, through the world,
pull at the strings of your heart to entice you into his web of lies where he intends nothing more than to trap you. It will seem innocent at first glance. Without discernment, you’ll miss his lie as it’s so close to truth it mimics truth but isn’t truth. His snare catches you off guard. To break free, is a painful release. Avoiding the snare is a much better way to walk.
Be careful how you identify with the ways and things of the world. Instead of asking if it’s a sin or keeps you from heaven. Ask, does what I am participating in lead the world to Jesus? Does it share his light in their darkness? Does it give God glory? Does it testify to the truth of God as the answer for EVERY need in the hearts of mankind?
So, no, I did not participate in some social media hashtag movement that brought no glory to the God that healed my heart and can heal yours.
