Jokingly I remembered as a kid the many times we called each other Liar Liar Pants on Fire. At times we were joking and teasing. Other times we were fire mad about whatever the other kid was saying. And sometimes we were simply trying to deceive the truth. As I read my earlier blog post I was reminded of the ultimate liar. And the lies he feeds into our lives that we all too often believe.
As I laid awake last night pondering a few things in my life I couldn’t help but think we need to call him and his lies exactly what they are. Lies. So, let’s discuss a little this morning his lies and the truth that prevails.
I read over my last blog and noticed the grammatical errors I had made along with a few minor spelling errors. Instantly I was disappointed that I hadn’t written better. Felt like it took away from the message and it’s power. Lies.
As I stood face to face with the image of reality earlier this week I saw defeat and destruction winning. Really you couldn’t miss the dreadful reality of where she is now. It has worn on her. And I’m not crazy. I see it plain as day. Appears hopeless. Lies.
And then I listened to the stories everyone had to tell. Stories of defeat, sickness, destruction, and hopelessness. For many circumstances in their life. Work. Home. Family. Friends. But, those are all lies too.
What is it for you? What lie is he telling you that your heart is believing? Is it something that robs you of your blessing? Keeps you from pursuing your true calling and mission in this life to share his gospel? Maybe it’s just that you’re not good enough. You don’t deserve it. Or it’s all your imperfections. Your past sins. The struggle you face today. Lies. All lies.
His truth says different
His truth says very different than the lies the devil tries to sell us. Here are a few truths you can stand firm in to know the liar is just that. A liar.
His truth says we are victorious. 1 John 5:4 tells us that everyone born of God overcomes the world.
His truth says we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139
His truth says his plans for us are to prosper, give us a hope for the future. Jeremiah 29:11
The truth of God clearly says when we seek him we will find him. That he will bring us from captivity to a place of freedom. Freedom from the sins that bind us. Jeremiah 29:13
His word of truth tells us we are his children that can call him Abba Father. Romans 8:15
And most of all, His word of truth assures us that as his children we can come boldly to his presence assured of his glad welcome. Flaws and all. Ephesians 3:12
Lastly and importantly, his truth tells us that his name is Jesus. A name above all names. The fire power of his spirit lives in us the same as him. We boldly hold the same authority over all principalities and darkness of this world through him. His presence is within us. Ephesians 5:15-20
As we discover the truth of His precious word we know that despite the lies the devil tries to sell us, our victory remains. Stand firm in the foundation of the truth of God in your life today. Shout your praises in the storm and raise to him your heart of worship because He is worthy of all your praise. Even when your human eyes can’t see the victory and work he has completed.
Blessings to each of you. I stand with you in prayer. Rejoicing in His truth.
