Early this morning I woke with a thought I would like to share with each of you.
It is, because you know my name, that I seek to know yours, above all else in this world. Everything in the world around me is temporary and I seek after the eternal as this world is not my home. My viewpoint is through the biblical lens of your truth which often varies from the viewpoint of many as theirs is through the lens of this world. Yet, as I stand alone in a world that demands conformity, I know that you know my name. The idea that you know my name, me, just me, is profound and leaves me in awe. How, does the God of the universe, know my name? Creator of all creation; knows me. Paid ransom for me.
You. Know. My. Name.
I am ~ Awestruck ~ Humbled ~ Honored ~
I walked through a journey of scripture this morning that led me down a path from the God of the universe knows my name and what that means for me. Friend, he knows your name and this passage is for you too. Let’s journey.
Isaiah 43 says, Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name, you are mine. When you go through deep waters & great trouble, I will be with you. when you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression you will not be burned up. The flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…
As I walk through troubled waters and rivers of difficulty, I will not drown. Thank you Jesus, you know my name.
Jeremiah 29:11 says, For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
His plans for me are prosperous with a future and hope.
Jeremiah 29:12-14 says, In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you, says the Lord.
When I pray, he hears me. When my whole hearts seeks him, I will find him.
1 Peter 1:18-19 says, For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.
Oh, this scripture brings my heart such tender joy. He paid for me with his own precious blood. His blood set me free.
Psalm 139:15-17 says, You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. they cannot be numbered. I cannot even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!
The God of the universe, Creator of all creation, watched me be formed as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. He knew every step I would take. Every thought I would have. The good and the bad. Yet, his precious thoughts for me outnumber the grains of sand. Again, I am humbled, honored, and awestruck by His Majesty.
Psalm 119:59;64 says, I pondered the direction of my life, and I turned to follow your laws. O Lord, your unfailing love fills the earth; teach me your principles. You have done many good things for me, Lord, just as you promised. I believe in your commands; now teach me good judgment and knowledge. I used to wander off until you disciplined me; but now I closely follow your word. You are good & do only good; teach me your principles.
Because he knows my name and shed unfailing love upon me as he does only good, I will obey his principles, appreciate his discipline, and closely follow his word.
Psalm 51:6;10 says, But you desire honesty from the heart so you can teach me to be wise in my inmost being. Create in me a clean heart. O God, renew a right spirit within me.
His word says that his desire for my heart to seek after his truth so he can teach me to be wise in his ways. Renewing a right spirit within me.
Colossians 3:10 says, Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.
As I submit my heart to him, clothing myself in his nature, I am learning more and more about him, which results in my becoming like him letting go of my old nature, the one he ransomed with his blood.
Psalm 37:23-25 says, the Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly forsaken or their children begging for bread.
Read that again. The Lord delights in every detail of my life. I will stumble but not fall. He holds me by the hand. I will not be forsaken.
Hebrews 12:27-29 says, all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakeable things will remain. Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a consuming fire.
Friend, I have received an unshakable Kingdom and because of this, I will, worship God with holy fear and awe. I remain awestruck by His Majesty. He consumes me with His fire!
Psalm 27:11-14 says, Teach me to live, O Lord. Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me. do not let me fall into their hands. For they accuse me of things I’ve never done; with every breath they threaten me with violence. Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
I wait patiently and confidently in the face of a world that peers through a clouded moral lens looking from a worldview point angered by the morality of a biblical lens in right standing with Almighty God. I know, that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Yes, I wait patiently for the Lord. Because he knows my name and I desire to know his.
1 Peter 1:8 says, Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him & are filled with an inexpressible & glorious joy; for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
This, my friend, is what it is all about. I have not seen him with my human eyes, yet I love him. I believe in him. I am filled with an inexpressible & glorious joy for I know, while I wait patiently & confidently, on the Lord, I am receiving the salvation of my soul. The soul is the goal. Everything else in this world will fade away. The word of the Lord is what will last. He is my hope.
Matthew 24:13 says, But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved.
Mark 13:32 – 33 says, However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert!
I will stay alert and be mindful of the coming of the Lord because he knows my name and will call me home as the temporary world around me crumbles and is no more.
John 14:1 -3 says, Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. there is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.
Because the God of the universe called me by name, ransomed my soul with his precious blood, showers me with his unfailing love, and directs my path as I seek after his principles; I will sustain to the end, persevering through the trials of this temporary world, confidently and patiently waiting upon the Lord, to call me home, where he has gone to prepare a place for me until the hour of his return.
He. Knows. My. Name.
