An open letter to the devil himself

Hey devil, 

Yes. You. Pay attention. 

You’re pretty slick. Or at least you think you are. You think you’ve won. You think you’ve fooled me. 

Well, that’s unfortunate; for you.

Are you ready? 

I am. 

I’ve been preparing for this. For quite some time now. We’ve faced off in battle before. You lost. You will again. 

You see, you lie. You depend on your ability to paralyze me with fear from your lies. 

You’re scrambling, running to and fro, frantically searching for an opportunity to steal, kill, and destroy. 

I’ll give it to ya. You’re pretty loud right now as you taunt with your threats and mocking of my God. You even look bigger than me. You’re intimidating many.

I’m suited up. I’ve been preparing for this battle. I am ridiculously marching across the field with nothing more than my armor, a sling; and a few smooth stones in my pocket. Well, and bold confidence in the God who sent me. 

I’m coming for ya. Get ready. 

But you know that already. 

The pitch of my voice is higher.

The tone of my voice is sharper.

The speed of my speech is faster. 

You should run. 

I’m coming. 

With passion in my soul and fire shut up in my bones.

You know how the story ends:

Let me remind you. 

No weapon formed against me shall prosper. Isaiah 54:17 

I am redeemed. Psalm 78:35

I am covered in the blood of Jesus. Hebrews 10:19 

On Christ the solid rock I stand. Luke 6:48 

His word is sharper than a 2 edged sword. Alive and Powerful. Hebrews 4:12 

Overwhelming victory is mine through him. Romans 8:37

He is my refuge, my safe place, in Christ I trust. Psalm 91:2 

He called me by name. Psalm 139 

I am his child. Heir to his throne. Galatians 4:7

I am suited up in the whole armor of God. Ephesians 6:13-17

I pray in the Spirit, alert and persistent. Ephesians 6:18 

I do not fight with mere weapons of this world. 2nd Corinthians 10:3-6

All that I am with my whole heart praises the Lord almighty. Psalm 103:1 

I am called by his name, Jesus. The name above all other names. The name you obey. Acts 2:38, Ephesians 2:19-22, Philippians 2:9-11 

I come boldly into the very presence of God assured of his glad welcome. Ephesians 3:12

If that isn’t enough for you, here’s one more. Revelations 22, specifically verse 13.

““Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.””
