The haunting question.
This simple but daunting question weighs on all of us. Am I enough.
Enough can mean many things. Am I strong enough. To face the battle ahead. Or to make it through this season of life. Am I good enough. To be forgiven. Or complete the task at hand. Am I worthy enough. To be loved.
Am I enough.
Earlier in the week I noticed multiple blog posts shared by many of my friends. All blogs written as encouragement for moms. Reminders that we are enough. That our flaws are part of our beauty.
And then I was reminded over the week how many of us face battles others know nothing about. Real battles. We struggle. Fear. Worry. And wonder. Wonder if we are enough. Enough to survive the battle we face.
Real talk.
The devil lies to us. Plays with our minds. Plants seeds of self doubt. As we stand feeling unworthy or less than enough. He whispers lie after lie. So we search. Search for encouragement and reassurance. Anywhere we can find them. Desperately we search.
Words of encouragement are good. Don’t get me wrong. I’ve written blogs directly for moms before. Reminding us all that we are enough.
But, honestly, we aren’t. When we stand alone we aren’t enough. 20 minute feel good blogs, sermons, or talks with a friend aren’t enough.
We have to dig deeper. Search for more. If we want the fuel for a sustainable fire then we have to get beyond the surface of our doubts and fears.
Get raw. Real. Uncomfortable. And vulnerable. That is where God meets us in the most beautiful way. He becomes our strength. Our worth. Gives grace. Is merciful. And carries us to the places we can’t go alone.
The devil feeds us lies. Plays with our mind. Plants seeds of doubt and defeat.
Gods word speaks life. Gives strength. Reminds us the war is already won. Promises victory. Healing. Physical healing. Emotional healing. Builds faith. Comforts. Is a light in the dark. And most of all, reminds us that his love never leaves, never fails, and meets every need we have.
As you ask yourself, am I enough. Remember my friend, that while you are not, your God is enough. And he never leaves you.
Psalm 34:1-22
“I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. I will boast only in the Lord; let all who are helpless take heart. Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt his name together. I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened; he saved me from all my troubles. For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! Fear the Lord, you his godly people, for those who fear him will have all they need. Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing. Come, my children, and listen to me, and I will teach you to fear the Lord. Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous? Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies! Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it. The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth. The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. For the Lord protects the bones of the righteous; not one of them is broken! Calamity will surely destroy the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be punished. But the Lord will redeem those who serve him. No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.”
Take heart, my friend, your encouragement comes from the Lord. He is your source of joy.
Bold – He Is Your Enough!
